🌿 The Right Detox Order: How to Truly Heal Your Gut — and Support Heart Health

ree

If you’ve ever tried a detox and felt worse instead of better, you’re not alone. Most people — even well-meaning health enthusiasts — get the detox order completely backwards. When you stir up toxins before your body is ready to eliminate them, you end up recycling what you were trying to get rid of.

As a naturopathic and regenerative doctor, I teach my clients that healing happens best when you follow the body’s natural flow. Here’s the five-phase sequence I recommend for a safe, efficient, and truly restorative detox.

1️⃣ Herbal Detox: Open the Pathways

Before you do anything intense, you have to make sure your “drainage pathways” — liver, lymph, colon, and kidneys — are open. A gentle herbal detox supports bile flow, liver function, and regular elimination. When your colon is moving and your liver is filtering properly, toxins can actually leave the body instead of being reabsorbed.

2️⃣ Nutritional Detox: Clean the Input

Once your elimination pathways are working, it’s time to clean up your nutrition. This means focusing on whole, unprocessed foods, reducing sugar, balancing blood sugar, and flooding the body with nutrients that calm inflammation.

A nutritional detox doesn’t mean deprivation — it means creating the environment where your cells can thrive.

3️⃣ Parasite Cleanse: Clear Hidden Infections

Here’s the part that surprises most people — parasites are far more common than you think. You can pick them up from food, water, pets, or travel. Even if you’ve never seen evidence of parasites, they can quietly steal nutrients, create bloating, fatigue, and inflammation, and even stress the cardiovascular system.

Once the pathways are open and the diet is clean, that’s the perfect time to do a gentle parasite cleanse with herbs such as black seed oil, walnut, and artemisia.

4️⃣ Bacterial Balance: Heal the Gut Microbiome

After clearing parasites, we go deeper into balancing gut bacteria and addressing issues like SIBO or dysbiosis. This helps reduce gas, bloating, and systemic inflammation, setting the stage for true gut healing.

5️⃣ Rebuild and Restore: Peptides and Repair

Finally, it’s time to rebuild. One of my favorite peptides for gut healing is BPC-157 — it supports gut-lining repair, tissue regeneration, and inflammation control. When you nourish your body in this stage, your digestion, energy, and even mood and cardiovascular function can dramatically improve.

💚 The Big Picture

True detox isn’t about harsh cleanses or quick fixes — it’s about working with your body in the right order. When you clear the pathways, cleanse gently, balance the microbiome, and rebuild the gut, you create real, lasting vitality from the inside out.

If you’re ready to start, our Herbal Detox is the perfect first step.
